Raw Autumn Pear Tart
W brought home a bunch of pears in different varieties. Time to revisit this amazing tart.
Wrote previously...OH YUM! Autumn is here... and I was in need of a really good COMFORT dessert! W brought me a bunch of pears and I had to use them before they got too ripe. This came out extraordinary! It tastes a lot like apple pie, except, I think I may like this better. The pears were sweet, tender and juicy. I used Bartlett Pears and then added a Red Pear for a little more texture.

Green Papaya Smoothie
Christopher Columbus referred to papayas as "the fruit of the angels." Papayas contain papain, an enzyme that helps digest proteins. In addition to providing a luscious taste that we associate with the tropics, they are rich in antioxidant nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as carotenes, vitamin C, flavonoids, B vitamins, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, magnesium, and fiber. The enzymes and nutrients in papaya are noted to be helpful in treating many disorders, such as heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, inflammation, IBS etc.

Traveling and Greens
Eating raw while traveling has certainly provided challenges for me. I continue to make my yummy green smoothies, but meal times are tough. I'm sitting in a hospital most of the day, so salads have become my friend. Here are some tips for creating some quick and easy salads on the go.

On The Road, And Smoothies
It takes some creativity and planning, but preparing yummy smoothies on the road can be done. We were staying with family while my Mom was having double bi-pass surgery, which got postponed due to bronchitis. We, had to extend our stay at Mom's request so I could be there to help. Her "significant" other, however, had his own idea about what would work for HIM, and contrary to her wishes, and rather than working together as a team, he wanted to be alone and have us stay in a motel. The added expense of renting a car, and a motel for an undetermined amount of time, along with the loss of a kitchen and utensils, created some challenges and added stress to an already stressful situation.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie (Green)
Simple, delicious and easy to make. You all know how much I love chocolate and not so much a fruity person, but I wanted to try something new today using my incredible strawberry extracts. You can use fresh strawberries or any extract you normally use, but this was just F I N E! I also like to keep the fruit to a minimum in my smoothies, so the extracts help punch up the flavor without the added fruit.

The sun is shining and it's another beautiful day! My pears were ripe, so I added one to my smoothie and def like that flavor. W also brought home some golden beats and I threw a couple of those beautiful leaves into the mix. Arugula, Swiss Chard, kiwi, pear, apple, 1/2 avocado, frozen blueberries, flax seeds (ground), goji berries and dates. Also see the Chocolate Mind Bender...
